Major Announcements: iMacs have switched to dual-processor Intel chips and are twice as fast as the iMac G5s. The Intel iMac is available today. PowerBooks are dead and Steve Jobs introduced it's successor called the MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro also features dual Intel chips making it 4-5 times faster than the now obsolete PowerBook. Also features a brighter screen, it's thinner, has built in iSight and a new magnetic power adaptor plug that prevents your laptop from accidentally being dropped if the power cable is stepped on (held by a magnet it just disconnects in pulled on). Only one configuration was announced: the 15.4 inch screen model which will ship February and orders are being accepted now. All Macs will be on Intel in 2006, ahead of schedule Other Announcements iWeb is a website builder using AJAX technology. There are templates to choose from and it will uload site you create to .Mac. Microsoft said they will be continuing their relationship with Apple long term and committed to keep developing Mac aps for another 5 years. Photocasting is a .Mac service to easily publish photos to the web. Creates an RSS feeds that anyone can subscribe to. Podcast Authoring Studio is an addition to Garage Band for creating your own podcasts. Has over 200 free audio clips, a "speech enhancer" and ability to do (record) interviews over iChat Most applications will run extremely well in Rosetta, MS Office being no exception. All Apple pro apps will be Intel ready by March. Photoshop was demo'd using Rosetta - "not fast enough for pros, but ok for someone who occassionally uses Photoshop." Remote control and FM tuner accessory is available for the iPod OS XTiger 10.4.4 is ready for download. It's Intel ready.
